Introducing the Te Mio Shawl - a heartfelt knitting pattern designed to capture hearts, inspired by the boundless love for my son, Artemio, and my late great-uncle bearing the same name.
Te Mio transcends being just a knitting pattern; it's a homage to cherished family ties and timeless memories. This shawl embodies enduring love and legacy - a testament to the profound bond shared between a mother and her cherished child.
With its enchanting design adorned with delicate hearts, Te Mio symbolises the overflowing love that fuels its creation. Each stitch tells a story of devotion, echoing the cherished memories of my great-uncle, revered through its name.
Crafted with meticulous precision, Te Mio showcases a captivating lace pattern, intricately designed with a 20-row repeat. Whether you prefer written instructions or visual charts, this pattern caters to all skill levels, ensuring a seamless knitting experience.
Knitted with two strands of 2-ply (lace-weight) yarn held together, Te Mio unveils a mesmerising visual tapestry, evoking warmth and tenderness with every stitch. Moreover, its versatility extends to experimenting with 4-ply yarn for a personalised touch.
This particular pattern calls for one ball each of two different colours of Findley. In this sample, we used a ball of Monteverde and a ball of Flax. Findley is a 50% extrafine merino and 50% mulberry silk luscious blend that is lightweight but incredibly warm.
Using 3.75mm needles, this pattern holds two strands together to create a visually intriguing swirl of colours.
The significance of the name Te Mio is profound, drawing from the endearing nickname 'Temio' bestowed upon my great-uncle by my great-aunt. 'Te,' meaning 'You' in Italian, and 'Mio,' translating to 'My,' encapsulate a tender sentiment - akin to calling my son 'My You,' reminiscent of 'You are mine.'
Knit this shawl as a gift to yourself or a loved one, and wrap them in a cocoon of affection that echoes through each stitch.
